Mac: Elgato Audio And Video Lag Sync Fixed For Mac

Posted on admin

In the middle of converting my families home movies to DVD (from VHS) and have ran into a small problem. Almost half way through the video I capture becomes out of sync from the audio. It isn't like this on the VHS or does it do it when watching Elgato Capture them. I have found where the audio becomes out of sync 20-30 minutes into the VHS it the audio drops out and then comes back in. I have 2 questions.

1st, has anyone seen anything like this happen? 2nd is how can I fix this within iMove. Ive tried detaching the audio but I can't delete the part that I have isolated where it begins to to out of sync. Click to expand.I would argue this too. WAY too much work to load in hours of VHS video and then export using iDVD. You can probably find a combo VHS/DVD unit for less than $100 bucks easily. And I didn't think the splitting would work since your described the video and audio being out of sync starting about halfway through.

Battle realms winter of the wolf for mac. You probably just noticed it at this point and it probably starts getting out of sync almost immediately. Unfortunately, it sounds like your setup creates some delay in processing (whether video or audio) and the system can't keep up. So breaking and re-adjusting the audio/video sync would likely have to be done at 10-15 minute intervals throughout each project. FWIW I used to record my important VHS directly to my MiniDV camcorder tapes and then import into iMovie and I never had any issues that way. I never did a play-through. My 'archiving' of my VHS tapes to DVD though is done using my stand-alone DVD recorder in my home theater.

I own an HD60 that is fed into my 2017 iMac i7 - I record gameplay from my PC via the HDMI port and edit it all on my Mac in FCP X. A major annoyance is that, whenever I take the video / game audio / commentary track, they are never properly in sync and I have to always take time out to make sure to click a few buttons in the game and also do a 'left / right / up / down' with mouse movement and commentary to make sure that the voice track matches what's on-screen. Generally in the muxed video track, all are in sync, but it's when they are split to separate Game Audio.m4a and Commentary.m4a that they become unsynced, so maybe it's a software issue. It's just an annoyance to have to do these things at the beginning of a recording and then align the three tracks (video + game audio + commentary) each time I put footage into the timeline.

I should also mention that once they are synced together in this manner, they stay synced, no matter how long the recording. Is it software or hardware? Anyone else have the issue or just me? Well, I think this is a different issue/hardware limitation. I'm fully-aware of the 1-1.5 second delay caused by the USB2 connection on the HD60, but this is a separate issue. In the issue I'm referring to, the Game Capture HD software is doing all of the recording and properly mixes all three tracks together in the main video file with proper sync. It's only when they are separated, does it mess with the sync and it actually isn't uniformly delayed.

Usually, the game audio is around 0.1-0.15 seconds delayed and the commentary track is 0.1-0.15 seconds too advanced!
